KPK's Response to Pressure to Summon Bobby Nasution Regarding Corruption in North Sumatra Road Project
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is still investigating information related to alleged corruption in a road construction project in North Sumatra. The process is being conducted before deciding whether to summon the Governor of North Sumatra, Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated, "The team is still conducting a thorough examination of every piece of information and testimony, both obtained from questioning individuals who have been interrogated after the sting operation as well as from the results of field searches." This statement was made in response to demands from anti-corruption activists for KPK to immediately summon Bobby. Budi emphasized that KPK is open to questioning anyone who is believed to have knowledge of the case structure. "If information and testimony are needed, then investigators will certainly summon them for questioning," he said.
Prior to this, Bobby Nasution expressed his readiness if summoned by KPK. He stated, "It's a legal process, so we are willing, especially if there was allegedly money flowing." He added, "We, I think everyone here in the provincial government, if there was money flowing to all levels, not just among peers, but to subordinates or superiors, the flow of money, must provide testimony." KPK conducted a raid on June 26, 2025, related to alleged corruption in a road project at the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR) of North Sumatra and the National Road Authority (Satker PJN) Region I of North Sumatra. Two days later, on June 28, KPK named five suspects in the case which was divided into two clusters. They are Head of PUPR North Sumatra Topan Obaja Putra Ginting (TOP), Head of the Technical Implementation Unit Gunung Tua at PUPR North Sumatra and acting commitment maker Rasuli Efendi Siregar (RES), PPK in Satker PJN Region I of North Sumatra Heliyanto (HEL), Director of PT DNG M. Akhirun Efendi Siregar (KIR), and Director of PT RN M. Rayhan Dulasmi Piliang (RAY). The first cluster involves four road projects within PUPR North Sumatra, while the second cluster includes two projects in Satker PJN Region I of North Sumatra. The total value of the six projects amounts to around Rp231.8 billion. KPK suspects Akhirun and Rayhan as the bribe givers, while Topan and Rasuli are suspected as recipients in the first cluster, and Heliyanto as a recipient in the second cluster.
